Closing performance – Christina Vantzou
Christina Vantzou will bring Michael Lin’s exhibition Tea Towels and Serviettes to a close with a sound performance in dialogue with the installation. Under the influence and precision of Oolong tea leaves, spoken word, synthesis, field recordings and elements from acoustic sound sources steep into atmospheres suspended between travel, memory and dreams.
Biography
Christina Vantzou is an artist and composer who approaches sound as a catalyst for positive transformation. She pays close attention to psychoacoustics, affect, and the invisible sensations generated by electronics, acoustic instruments and field recordings. Handicraft, delicacy and beauty infuse her recorded works and in performance, she shapes ceremonial spaces where orchestral arrangements suggest a sonic language of subtle tones. For Christina, music seeps into the skin and travels towards the body's core, shifting our sense of time, bringing presence, and guiding us to subtler realms.
Vantzou has presented her work in spaces such as Villa Medici (Rome), Philharmonie de Paris, Barbican Center (London), BOZAR (Brussels), Kölner Philharmonie (Cologne), La Maison de la Radio (Paris), Cafe Oto (London) and many more.
